The practice of motorcycle riding is getting more widespread and popular again, so with it biker tattoos are also gaining in popularity. Biker tattoos are associated with rebelling against authority and living life out on the road, although these days biker tattoos are somewhat more acceptable to the general populace as many bikers are not involved with outlaw gangs, but get pleasure from having a traditional cycle club tattoo.

There is variation to the size of many of their tattoos but quite a large percentage of them take up a lot of skin. For those who are only week end bikers, may have only one or two tattoos, but for those whose intensity of commitment reaches stronger proportions, full sleeves or a body suit may signal a hard level of affiliation with the practice of biking.

Some motorcycle groups, tattoos, carry special significant meaning of position and rank in the groups and the carrying out of certain tasks and actions in relation to the group. The tattoos can be symbols of loyalty levels, belonging etc.
Much of the time exaggerations are made in reference to rumors concerning outlaw biker gangs, only a very small percentage of people are actually members of outlaw biker groups who have tattoos, but its still understandable people can feel suspicious and somewhat wary of those with bike tattoos due to the connotations of some outlaw groups.
Associations with the underworld and prison are also associated with tattoos, and the archetype of a biker getting a tattoo behind bars with an illegal tattoo kit comes to mind with many. But on the whole the biker tattoo is just a symbol of the energy, excitement and stimulation of a freedom and life out on the road.
As well as symbolizing a persons need to feel individual and away from a crowd at the same time bike club tattoos can symbolize commitment, loyalty and association with an organized biker group and carry symbolic signification of there role in that group.
When a person exhibits with pride a cycle club tattoo, they can be of interest to read and give indications of the person wearing them. The most known and popular motor bike that comes to mind with people is of course the Harley Davidson. Their tattoos are usually striking in appearance and carry many common themes such as attractive woman, spider webs, grim reapers, lions, eagles etc. To round it all off cycle club tattoos are a sign to the world of a persons wish for freedom, excitement and the draw of the open road.

"A butterfly tattoo on a woman usually acknowledges woman as the free spirit. Like butterflies in nature, the female blossoms from a girl to a woman, equipped with the gift to create and harvest new life..." Read more about the meaning of butterfly tattoos in our article section.

When it comes to the butterfly tattoo on woman, there is no other tattoo style that compares. The butterfly design tattoo is the most popular tattoo style amongst women. The butterfly tattoo can be solid ink, two toned, or multi color. It looks good as a single tattoo, but most butterfly tattoos have trail ink or other images, such as stars or flowers.None the less, the butterfly tattoo can be designed in a variety of different ways. As you see on the right, this design has a great color and the stars and wind trails add beauty to this particular tattoo. This tattoo shows how two colors, blue and black, can be used. Besides yellow, you can see how the black and blue is used in dark scale and a lighter scale. This is a beautiful design.

The butterfly tattoo is also usually mixed with flowers and plants. As you can see from the tattoo on the right, this butterfly tattoo also has a plant.stem. The butterfly is perched onto the plant. I brought this image up because of the dark tones that are associated with the tattoo. The tattoo appears to have a green color, orange, and a dark yellow. There is nothing wrong with this type of tattoo, but I wouldn't advise using dark colors like this tattoo. I like the design, but uses of the color is all wrong. The green in the tattoo is fine, but I believe the dark tone of the other colors takes away from this tattoo. I am not saying that you shouldn't use this design or color at all. I just personally believe the colors are all wrong.
The design on the right is a well designed tattoo on the lower back. Brighter shades of the purple look much better then a dark purple. As you can see, the purple is not very bright, but just enough to really set the tattoo off. You really need to pay attention to your choice of colors when you get your butterfly tattoo. Remember, the outline is usually done in black anyway. This adds enough dark color to the butterfly tattoo anyway. You really want to have the perfect mixture of colors and hues for the butterfly tattoo. Of course, it is your tattoo and you can choose any color that you wish, but I still believe the lighter colors look so much better. The sky blue color and light pink work well with the black outline ink.
In saying that, this is just for the butterfly coloring. Since the butterfly is going to be the main part of your tattoo, you want it to stand out from the rest of the tattoo. For this reason, you would use all original colors for any flowers or landscaping in the background. I don't have a picture of this design, but I saw one the other day and it was absolutely a beautiful tattoo design. The tattoo was on the lower back. The main front of the tattoo or the front piece had a butterfly perched on a blade of grass. Tall grass covered the bottom of the tattoo and it was shaded perfectly with 4 shades of green, with brown and black shades. It was a landscape designed tattoo with the butterfly as the center piece. In the background, the sky was colored with the moon. The sky was bright blue. On the right, there was a cliff and a waterfall. Beautiful trees were in the background and the setting was fall. The leaves were orange, red, and yellow. The waterfall landed in a lake. I thought it was a great landscape design and it inspired me to write about it. I did not have a chance to get into a full conversation, but she told me there was no meaning behind the tattoo. Many women choose the butterfly design because it adds beauty to the body, while other butterfly tattoos can be used for overall meaning.
The design on the right is a beautiful designed butterfly done in light colors. The artwork is based on the Japanese style. The colors go great together and you can also see how great the Japanese art looks with the butterfly. You can see the heart and it may hold overall meaning, probably "love". This tattoo shows how the correct colors make the tattoo stand out more. The background artwork was a great choice for this tattoo.
As you can already see, the butterfly tattoo can be placed in a variety of places on the body. Most women use the lower back or back shoulders for this specific style, but it can also be placed on the stomach, sides, feet, and the upper arms. Out of all these areas, the sides would be the most painful.
THE MEANING OF THE BUTTERFLY
A lot of women that get the butterfly tattoo really don't understand the overall meaning of the tattoo design. For many, the butterfly design doesn't hold any symbolic meaning. Although that is true, for others, it does.

In the brotherhood, or in this case sisterhood, of ink (once you get a tattoo...you're a card-carrying member) the most popular design sported by women of all walks of life from all over the world is the butterfly. Whether combined with a flower tattoo design (roses, lilies, daisies or sunflowers) or a vine tattoo design (typically done as a butterfly armband) or a wispy-thin tribal tattoo design, butterfly tattoos have a versatility that few tattoo designs have. Aside from the beauty of symmetry, shape, hue and infinite variety in pattern (like snowflakes, no two butterflies are totally alike) of these imaginative designs, butterfly tattoos can literally be placed anywhere on the body.
A butterfly tattoo on a woman usually acknowledges "woman as the free spirit." Like butterflies in nature, the female "blossoms" from a girl to a woman, equipped with the gift to create and harvest new life. No matter where the butterfly tattoo is placed on the body, it serves as a portal to release and draw in the energies of life, the essences of human souls. A butterfly tattoo is a talisman that focuses the awesome power that is contained within all women.
Now, the types of women who get butterfly tattoo designs are as diverse as the patterns on the butterfly's wings. These women can be creative, delicately lovely, patient, observant, and intelligent, in tune with nature, deeply committed to friendships and virginal. But they can also be pedantic, shrewd, judicious, aristocratic and reserved.
There are a few different locations that the butterfly ankle tattoo can be placed. Some people choose to get their butterfly tattoo just below the ankles, more so on the top of their foot. Others may choose to get their design on the bottom of the heel. The heel can also be a starting point for a butterfly tattoo design or an ending spot. Others may start on the outside of the ankle and work their way up the leg, but not very far. Some even choose to have their butterfly design run toward the knee. So even though it is an ankle design, there are still a few different locations that you will want to consider before you get your tattoo.
The butterfly tattoo comes in a variety of different designs as well. There are many things that can be portrayed with your butterfly tattoo design. Trail ink is commonly associated with butterfly tattoos. This gives the tattoo the appearance of movement. Some of these types of designs are absolutely beautiful when done right. Other designs may include trail ink lines in the design, but they don't portray movement. All this does is adds beauty and uniqueness to the design. The butterfly tattoo design gives you the option to be creative.

There are much more things that can be added to a butterfly tattoo besides trail ink marks. Since the butterfly tattoo is associated with the dragonfly tattoo and the fairy tattoo, there are tattoo designs that portray all three in a single design. These types of tattoos are considered fantasy tattoos. All three of these tattoos share symbolic meanings. You can also add flowers, plants, stars, ladybugs, and trees. The option is yours in the end though. Some people choose to get a single butterfly tattoo, but many women feel like one butterfly is not enough for this particular design. Either option you take, there is a lot you can for your butterfly tattoo design.
A common color combination that you see a lot in butterfly tattoos is blue, pink, and purple. Actually, a relative large percentage of butterfly tattoos often portray these three colors. They are commonly associated with the same color flowers or trail ink. Other women prefer to add multiple colors to their butterfly design. This is a very important decision that you will have to consider before you get your butterfly tattoo. You need to think about what colors you want to choose for your design. There are plenty of pictures in this article to give you a typical idea. This is probably one of the hardest things to consider in the process.
